The entire body of work Stijn Ank has created until now can be considered as an intense, extensive and impassionate research into the various ways in which contemporary sculpture can be possibly defined or, rather, redefined in relation to its surrounding space.
The hypothetical, non-referential nature of the works resulting from this distinct method led the artist to the evident choice of simply numbering them chronologically, thus confirming the radical choice of letting them exist in a pure, autonomous way and deftly avoiding the many traps the legacy of postmodernism has left us with.
